Did you know that midwifery care is associated with improved outcomes for both moms and their babies? In many countries, midwives are the main care providers for over 50% of pregnancies while OBGYNs are mainly available for high-risk care and cesarean deliveries. Midwifery care is associated with lower preterm birth rates, lower cesarean birth rates, lower episiotomy rates, decreased low birth weight, higher rates of vaginal deliveries, and higher rates of breastfeeding.
